Where & When

20th June 2026

More information

Please note, the reception venue has changed from the save the date!

On the day

The wedding ceremony will take place in St Dunstan's church with lots of excellent music! The church is more than big enough, but please arrive with plenty of time to find your seats. We hope to follow the service with refreshments in the church so that everyone can mingle before heading to the reception. We are lucky enough to have lots of wonderful friends playing music throughout the ceremony so we kindly ask that you avoid chatting whilst they are playing/ singing. Some of the music will be played a brass band, so if you (or your children) are not so keen on loud music then perhaps consider bringing some ear plugs...

After the ceremony everyone will need to travel to the reception venue. This is a ~5 min journey (by car). There is also a bus which runs pretty much exactly between the two venues, but in an ideal world we please ask drivers with spaces to spare to transport any stragglers. Let us know if you want us to link you up with drivers!

The reception is being held on the field outside of a village hall in a big sailcloth marquee. Fingers crossed for sun but it'll be fully sheltered in any case. There'll be canapés and fizz (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) on arrival. Food will be served at about 16:30 and will be a big BBQ with plenty of options for veggies, vegans and meat eaters - followed by a pudding party (see below)!

The party will kick off after dinner with a live band, and we'll have pizzas at 9 pm to fuel the dancing. Music ends at 11pm - then bed time!

P.S. please don't forget to let us know of any allergies and intolerances in your RSVP!

Dress code

The dress code is smart, but do add some summer colour if you like! Most importantly though, wear what makes you happy and comfortable.

Pudding Party

[INSERT PHOTOS?!] Instead of a traditional wedding cake, we are having a pudding party!

The premise is simple: people bring different puddings and there's a big sharing table to try lots of different things! If you think you can make and bring something, please let us know on the RSVP form! We're keen to make sure there's plenty of options for those with allergies and intolerances, so let us know if that's something you think you can cater for as well.

The backstory is that we actually met at a pudding party, hosted by Saskia, during our time in Bristol! So it felt fitting to have one at our wedding.

Presents

[TODO; NEEDS UPDATING!] Once again we would like to emphasise that you really do not have to get us a wedding present!! But if you really would like to get us something as a present we have set up a webpage to do so here: [LINK].

We know it's often nice to be able to buy people designated items as a wedding present. However, as much as we'd really love bits and pieces for a future home, it wouldn't be very easy for us to store & move things given we currently live abroad. So, instead, we've made a website where you can contribute to parts of the new bikes we intend to buy for our honeymoon! You probably all know how much joy we get from cycling, and we intend to plan our honeymoon around some of Europe's best cycling locations. We also intend to get a print made of our new bikes which we will frame at home, referencing who has contributed to which parts of each bike so that we can remember your generosity forever. The site linked above will provide a secure payment platform for making contributions.

The following day

We are planning a more casual lunch the following day (Sunday 21st June) at the reception venue for anyone who is around and would like to join us. Let us know if you'd be interested and we'll send more details closer to the time.

Transport & parking

If you are driving to the ceremony, then there is limited on-street parking by the church and throughout the village. Alternatively, there are two reasonable car parks 5 minutes away. The first is by Court Meadow[?!; INSERT LINK] and the other is on South Street[Other car park; INSERT LINK].

At the reception venue, there will be enough parking for everyone who needs it. There are approx. 40 spaces in the main car park and overflow in the field. We'll have someone helping with car park marshalling! You can leave your car overnight and pick it up the following morning if you like.

We recommend booking taxis in advance if you plan to use them. To give an estimate of costs, AAA TAXIS have quoted £40 for a 4-seater, £55 (6-seater), £80 (8-seater) from the reception to Tunbridge Wells. Taxi companies are unlikely to accept bookings for between the venue and e.g. Mayfield (not economical for them), so please plan accordingly if you are staying very locally!

To get to Mayfield via public transport, your only option is to get the 52 or the 51 bus from Tunbridge Wells station. The train to Tunbridge Wells from London Charing Cross/ London Bridge/ London Waterloo East takes about an hour and goes about every half an hour. Getting a taxi from a station to Mayfield is also an option, in which case Tunbridge Wells is probably easiest and is about 20 minutes away by car. Other stations nearby to Mayfield include Wadhurst, Crowborough and Uckfield. To get to Mayfield from abroad there are several options. It is about 1.5 hours drive from Dover or Folkestone to the village, meaning that the ferry or Eurotunnel from Calais is a good option from mainland Europe. We are also about a 50 minute drive from Gatwick Airport or about 1.5 hours from Heathrow Airport. To get public transport to Mayfield from an airport you will probably have to go through London and then get a train back out to Tunbridge Wells. The Eurostar is also a good option since this will get you straight into central London where you can then get a train out to Tunbridge Wells.

Accommodation

If you would like to stay overnight nearby, there are a handful of accommodation options (e.g. Airbnbs, pubs, B&Bs) in the local Mayfield and Five Ashes area.

Tunbridge Wells is the nearest big town and is probably your best bet for a hotel or similar. It's roughly a 20 minute drive from the reception venue. So staying there + a taxi at home time is a good shout.

Contact us if you want any more advice on accommodation. If you fancy a camping holiday, also speak to us! We have a few options in mind for cheap and/or free accommodation if you're willing to sleep in a tent.

Things to do in the local area

If you plan on making a weekend (or longer!) out of your trip to Sussex then there are lots of things to do locally. Food wise, Mayfield has two pubs (The Rose and Crown and The Middle House), a cafe (The House Cafe) and a bakery. There is also a lovely brewery (Lakedown Brewery) about 3 miles outside of the village. Tunbridge Wells has all kinds of dining options, and there are also lots of other good pubs and cafes in the surrounding villages. Mayfield itself is a great starting point for lots of lovely walks, or if you want to go further afield then the South Downs are only about a 40 minute drive. Our nearest bit of coastline is only about 20 miles away, so a swim in the sea is also easily facilitated! If you're in the area already on Saturday morning, then our nearest parkruns are Tunbridge Wells, Bedgebury and Uckfield (good for if you need a U in your alphabet!). There are also lots of local castles and National Trust properties to visit if you're into that kind of thing.
